Wondering how to use Instagram stories? Around half of Instagram’s monthly users use Stories. That’s 500 million people who share 1 billion stories every day. And about 62 percent of these people say they’ve become more interested in a brand or product after seeing it in their Stories.
If you’re just starting out or trying to learn the new subtleties, we’ve got a full rundown on how to use Instagram stories to grow your audience.
Why Use Instagram Stories?
Instagram Stories usually offers a smoother, less perplexing user experience. Now, if you’re a brand, the list of reasons why you should use Instagram Stories is endless. Most notably, the number of users you are likely to meet on Instagram is typically much higher than on Snapchat.
In addition, it offers another forum to create innovative content and eventually move to your target, whether it’s to have someone buy clothing, read a blog post, or download an album. The ways to get innovative on the site are infinite. It’s almost like a tiny TV channel for your company, where you can go to the city with out-of-the-box ideas.
How to add to your story: There are two ways to add to your story: the first one by going to your profile page and clicking on your icon. The second one will go to your main feed and click on the camera icon at the top left corner. When you’ve finished adding text, illustrations, and stickers to your masterpiece, you’ll tap the “+ your story” icon at the bottom right corner and it’s officially added to your tale.
How to pick a media format: Once you’ve made it to the “add to your clip” page, the bottom of your page will allow you to swipe right and left to choose between Usual (regular picture or video), Boomerang (GIF), Rewind (reverse video), and Hands Free (which will automatically take 15 seconds of video without holding down the record button).
How to add filters: Like Snapchat, you swipe left to step forward through a set of filters that can be added to your picture or video clip. Simple, simple.
How To Apply Filters To Your Instagram Stories
How to add an picture or video from your camera roll to your story: there are two ways to do that. You’ll find a tiny icon on the lower left of the screen next to the flash icon. This is going to have a snapshot of the new media in your camera roll. You can click here to unveil the last 24 hours of your pictures and videos.
The other way to do this is to swipe down the phone. You can’t post something that was taken more than a day ago, but I have a hack for that later in this article. If you upload a custom picture the dimensions are 1080 x 1920 pixels. The video aspect ratio is 9:16, and the length will range between anywhere between one second and 15 seconds.
How To Add Stickers To Your Instagram Stories
How to add geotags: You get to the stickers tab by clicking on the square happy face icon at the top right corner of your browser. You ‘re going to see a “location” sticker. When you tap this, a range of choices will pop up. If you don’t see your place, you can check for it as well. I don’t really need to clarify how to use other stickers because it’s just a matter of scrolling and figuring out which one you want to use.
How to add a selfie sticker: Once you click the stickers button, you’ll see the camera icon on the left side of the # hashtag. You can click on it and take a selfie, then tap the image to add a white circle around it, or leave it with a glowing side. With this sticker, you can just take a selfie. This is perfect for a lot of things: I’ve seen people take several pictures and add of of their friends faces to various bowls of ramen. Or you might be like me and add your face to an image of the sky and pretend to be a god or a light. There are infinite possibilities.
How to adjust the size of your sticker: for any sticker, you can increase and decrease the size of the sticker by pinching or extending it with two fingers.
How to pin a sticker or text to a moving part of your video: place your text or sticker at the desired position and tap and hold the screen until you get a little bar at the bottom that says “pin.” Find the topic you want to add to in the video, then click “add” when you’re ready. If you’re not pleased with the outcome, you can tap and hold the picture or text again and keep trying.
How to add a hashtag: there are two ways to do that. You can click on the stickers icon and hit the “hashtag” button and add it that way. You may also type a text icon in a hashtag. Any method can result in a tapable, searchable hashtag in your post.
Adding Colour Overlays
If you want to make your whole screen one solid color, just take a photo or a video, pick a pen, choose a color, and then tap and hold the main part of the screen. The screen will become the color when you raise your finger. From here, you can use the eraser tool to selectively expose those parts of your original image or video. Get imaginative, guy!
How to add text and change style: To get to the text, press the “Aa” icon in the top right corner and start writing. When you type your text and tap the text icon, you can also tap it to adjust the style and alignment. There are three options: one with a faint fading color in the back, one with a strong background, and no background — just a colored text. Changing the color of your text works the same way you do with your drawing / pens.
How to have multiple color and size text: highlight a single word in the text to adjust the color of the text. The other way to do this is when you write one word and make it the color and style you like, just hit the text button again and write another word or phrase and give it a different color.
Saving and Deleting Instagram Stories
How to delete a sticker or text: drag and drop in all its glory. You take your undesired object and drag it to the bottom of the screen in the trash icon. Easy! Easy!
How to remove a sticker or text
How to save and delete individual shots and your whole story: you’ll see an arrow at the bottom left corner that points down when you take a photo, a boomerang or a video. To save your unique picture, click that. To save your entire story, click on the profile icon and click on the three dots in the bottom right corner of the page. Click “Save” and you’ll be given two options: save the picture, or save the story. Select Save Story to save the story from the last 24 hours saved to a single video file. That’s pretty convenient, man! This is also where you ‘re going to find a way to uninstall.
Now it’s up to you to take advantage of these tips and tricks and get creative with how you share your daily life with your followers.
